According to the Court of Justice's web calendar, the Court heard today what may turn out to be one of the most significant cases in the commercial world for a very long time.
Yes, you guessed right ! It was he hearing in Case C-185/07 Riunione Adriatica Di Sicurta SpA (RAS) v West Tankers Inc.

Given the importance of the case - whether international commercial arbitration can ever effectively take place in the EU in accordance with the 1958 New York Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards - there will be plenty more to follow.
I am informed that the West Tankers case will not be heard until 9 July 2008.
