We drew your attention in a post a while ago to a letter sent by the President of the Court of Justice to the President of the Council on judicial reappointments in which he asks that decisions on appointments be taken as early as possible.
It seems that the Council is taking the matter to heart and has now asked the member States for nominations by January 15th 2009 at the latest.

The handy thing is that the document contains a reference to the system of rotation of Advocate generals. it is set out Declaration n° 2 by the Plenipotentiaries annexed to the Final Act of the Treaty concerning the accession of Norway, Austria, Finland and Sweden to the EU (OJ 1994, C 242, p. 345) (we'd love to provide a link by the Eur-lex is malfunctioning ... again).
