Judicial Statistics 2006
The Court of Justice issued a press release recently giving the statistics for 2006 for cases and their duration for the Court of Justice, the Court of First Instance and the Civil Service Tribunal.
The good news is that the Court of Justice is speeding up and cases, especially preliminary references, are being dealt with more quickly.
The bad news is that the number of cases being lodged before the Court of First Instance is rising in real terms. That means more disgruntled plaintiffs. Intellectual property cases represent about a quarter of the total before the Court of First Instance.
